“Warrumbungle Roos”: Silk Chiffon

SILK CHIFFON SCARF TITLE: “Warrumbungle Roos”

DIMENSIONS: 180cmx65cm (71 inchesx25.5 inches).

PHOTOGRAPHY: September 2011

DESTINATION: Australia, New South Wales, Warrumbungle National Park.

STORY: This image was taken very early in the morning with the Kangaroos backlit by the sun.
I found that when I clapped my hands the majority of Kangaroos looked around. It was great to shoot so many Kangaroos together with amazing light behind them.
The Warrumbungle ( Aboriginal Gamilaroi name meaning “Crooked Mountains”) National Park is a photographers goldmine with abundant native Australian wildlife.
The Eastern Grey Kangaroo is an iconic marsupial mammal living in mobs of 10 or more. It is found over most of the Eastern States in habitats ranging from semi-arid scrub to woodlands. “Aussies” like to shorten words and Kangaroos are often referred to as “Roos”.

Touch the Silk…View the Art… Share The Story….“The artwork for our silk scarf collection is re-living our photography in a fresh way. Using a variety of techniques our challenge is to create a captivating image, often from nature’s details, that looks beautiful as a scarf.”

INCLUDED WITH YOUR SCARF: Designed Bluyonda box with magnetic lid / Tag with story about the image / Tag with history of Silk and Artist’s resume.

THE SILK STORY:Silk production (Sericulture) was first developed in the Neolithic, Yangshao culture, Shanxi, around 4000 years BC. Being an exquisite, precious fibre, for many millennia, it was one of the most zealously guarded secrets in history. Shimmering sheen that never diminishes/ soft and very light weight/ Cool in Summer – Warm in Winter/ Absorbs perspiration yet lets skin breathe/ Promotes skin rejuvenation/ Hypoallergenic/ Eco-Friendly/ Biodegradable/ Washes easily/ Strong.

This Pure Silk Chiffon ( AWTA Tested as 100%Silk and colourfast ) is 8mm (35gms per square metre) which is slightly heavier with superior colour and durability than the standard light weight 6mm (26gms per square metre). Silk Twill (12mm: 52gms per square metre ) and Silk Chiffon are very different in of weight, touch, colour vibrancy and feel.

CARE: Enjoy your silk garment – our printing techniques produce colours that will not run or fade. With fundamental care, this silk scarf will maintain it’s vibrant colours and quality ‘Silk’ feel for many years. As Silk is a natural fibre avoid drying in direct sunlight. Also, avoid contact with bleaches or solvents with alcohol such as some hairsprays.

HAND WASHING: Preferred: Use lukewarm water and a mild non-alkaline soap such as baby shampoo. Avoid soaking and rinse with a few tablespoons of distilled white vinegar added to the clear water. Avoid wringing or twisting and roll in a towel then hang to dry. Avoid using dryers.

IRONING: Most wrinkles can be removed by hanging the scarf in the shower and letting humidity work. While the scarf is hanging a steam iron can be used carefully avoiding wetting locally. If necessary use a cool iron setting (Silk Setting) on the back of the damp scarf – avoid too much heat.

FINISH: Neat machine  hemmed
